Lower Taxes
I know that keeping money in your pocketbook is the key to a stronger economy. I will stand against tax increases, fight to control wasteful state government spending and work to get the state budget under control.
Protecting Your Pocketbook
Beyond working to lower the tax burden, I will fight to make health care more affordable by putting families, not politicians, in greater control of health care decisions—increasing cost transparency, encouraging wellness programs and providing tax relief for health care costs. I will also work to reduce the cost of energy, both in our homes and at the gas pump.
Better Jobs, A Stronger Economy
To succeed, we need good jobs in Appleton and throughout Wisconsin. Government doesn’t create jobs, but it can drive them away with high taxes and burdensome and costly regulations. I will work to reduce the tax burden—for families and businesses—and improve our business climate so that employers look to our state as a place to locate to, not flee from.
I will work to cut through bureaucratic red-tape that too often holds back businesses. State agencies must be allies of the business community—not adversaries. I will work for targeted tax relief measures that will help employers create new jobs in Wisconsin—from capital investment and reinvestment and R&D tax credits that encourage investing right here in our community to a higher education tax credit for companies that are willing to invest in their workforce’s continued education.
We also must end lawsuit abuse by strengthening liability laws while maintaining strong consumer protection laws—businesses should only be responsible in a lawsuit if they are actually responsible for a faulty product or injury. Frivolous lawsuits only serve to chase jobs from our state and make trial lawyers rich.
Affordable Health Care
The high cost of health care is troubling for families and employers. As your State Representative, I will fight to make health care affordable for everyone by promoting price transparency, wellness programs and tax-exempt Health Savings Accounts. And I will fight against turning over your health care to a massive and expensive state bureaucracy controlled by an unelected board. Just think of your experiences at the DMV or with the IRS…we cannot turn our health care over to that same unaccountable bureaucracy.
Quality Education
A strong and safe education system is vital for our future. As your State Representative, I will fight to make sure your children’s education is the best in the nation. All aspects of education must be under review, so we can applaud what’s right and fix what’s wrong.
I will direct more of our education dollars into the classroom for programs that actually benefit the children. I will demand high standards from our schools, especially in areas like math and science. I will work with school boards to find cost savings, such as allowing competitive bidding for health insurance.
And I will work to keep our schools safe by prohibiting felons from working in our schools and strengthening the partnership between our schools and law enforcement.
